Kashaya Grammar Online

This website represents an effort to make available online extensive information about the structure of the Kashaya language, a member of the Pomoan family of Northern California and the language of the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians of the Stewarts Point Rancheria in Sonoma County, California.

These pages were written by Gene Buckley. The examples are drawn from a database of material in Kashaya, most of it collected by Robert Oswalt starting in 1957. Some examples come from earlier work by Abraham Halpern in 1940, as well as fieldwork by Buckley in 2012 and later.

These pages are a work in progress, and many more remain to be created. The following list gives links to pages that discuss aspects of Kashaya grammar and pronunciation. Individual pages often link to the glossary to explain concepts and terminology.
