The point of articulation of this sound seems to be somewhat variable, most of the time probably between velar and uvular. The onset of this sound is sometimes so rough that it sounds a bit like an affricate, but it isn't an affricate. The glottis seems to close and open a couple of times during the course of this sound. It isn't pre-glottalized or post-glottalized like some other glottalized fricatives. The syllable-final allophone of this sound is rather different from the allophone found in the onset.
