The next day we went to Gugong (also called the "Forbidden City"). At least those of us who got out of bed eventually...

From the outside.

Inside.

Details.

The longest marble stone of... i don't remember.

That's China.

The reason for this picture was the small sign above the entrance. It's the name of the hall in Chinese and ... that's the question. Probably Tibetan (because of the Tibetan lamaism), but who can tell me exactly? [I've got a better version of the picture here if you can't see it.]

This is the building where the HuangDi (emperor) ... probably saw his visitors, but I'm not sure any more.

Doesn't that look like a huge tooth?

Don't pick WHAT flowers????

Cool tree.

Plan of Gugong.

Dragons.

The group.

I was there!

After we had a one-hour meal with hotpot and other things and were truly stuffed, we payed a short visit to Tian'anmen and the People's Square. It was so foggy we couldn't even see how the world's biggest square looks like.

Tian An Men.

Lost in the fog...

Patrick.

Taking pictures, which is of course most important in such a place.

Again the Tian'anmen. "Long live the people's republic of China" and "Long live the great unification of the people of the world" and Mao's picture...

... and me.

The loudspeakers show what this square is meant for.
