Variationist methods in code-switching and borrowing

This workshop will introduce new techniques for identifying and distinguishing code-switches and borrowings, drawing on quantitative conditioning of variables in each of the monolingual contact languages. A variety of typologically contrastive language pairs will be considered, with particular attention given to the problematic category of lone lexical incorporations. Participants are encouraged to bring their own data sets to bear on the problems of the workshop.
