(43K) June 2001: Dennis and I were on a train from Paris to London, and Dennis held the camera in front of us and snapped this picture. (We didn't mean to go to Paris; it was an accident, honest.)

(41K) In the 1999-2000 academic year, I took off work and got a lot of my dissertation done. I let my beard grow long that year. This is what it looked like in October as the beard was starting to get serious. You should have seen how long it got before I got a job and whacked it all off the next summer.

It was fun having my beard long, but little kids would point at it, and airport security would frisk me at least twice as long as before. Did I look like a terrorist, or something?

(9K) What would a homepage be without the obligatory cute pet shot? This is Mephisto. Dennis and I are Mephisto's pet humans. Mephisto was born in August 1996.
