Penn Linguistics TA Resources
TA offices (Williams 401 and 402)
Copy rooms (for recitation handouts, etc.)
There's one copy room on the
second floor of Williams Hall, another on the third floor of Logan
Hall. You need a key to get into the Williams Hall room; you can check it
out from the department office. Ask Amy or another student for the codes
you need to punch in in order to activate the copy machines.
Classrooms
Classrooms that I have taught in have generally been very well
equipped, with projectors, internet access, powerpoint, speakers, and so
on. You can find out exactly what's available in your specific classroom here. If your room is
deficient in any way, call the number on the little card next to the
entrance and ask for help. They may have cassette players and other stuff
available for you to use.
Textbooks
If you're teaching an intro-level class are looking for some
ready-made practice exercises to use in recitation, browse through the
General Linguistics section in room 612. I found the Language Files series
and the Fromkin/Rodman text particularly helpful. Please remember to check the
books out before you take them from 612.

student information. Still contains teaching history, including evaluations
(if you were the course instructor, not TA).

Classroom Finder. Specific information about individual rooms;
also a classroom reservation request form in case you need to schedule a
study session or makeup class.
- MMETS.
If you ever have to teach software or computer skills (e.g., Excel for
LING-102), you can reserve a room here. Each student is on their own
computer so they can follow what you're doing.
