Forced alignment as a tool and methodology for phonetics research

As speech technology has advanced, many efforts have been made to build models based on phonetic theories and discoveries. However, the integration of speech technology into phonetics research has not been extensively investigated. In this discussion, I will present some of my work in progress along this second stream. I will report on the results of experiments that demonstrate how forced alignment can be both a useful tool and a novel methodology for phonetics research.
