This seminar will explore theoretical approaches to the analysis of stress and related phenomena. We will read work in traditional serial frameworks as well as more recent applications in the parallel framework of Optimality Theory. The specific topics to be covered will depend on the interests of the participants, but are likely to include many of the following:

Because this is a seminar, the format will emphasize discussion rather than lecture. Articles will most often be presented by students. Auditors are expected to participate in discussions and to present readings as well. The grade will be based primarily on a final paper on some topic relevant to the course content.
