Library resources for Penn linguists
Penn library system
The Penn Library homepage has links to the library catalog, information about hours and locations, and account access for online renewals. Some other helpful links:
If a book you want is checked out, your best bet is to email linglist or penguists. Chances are good that someone on the list will have the book, and you can make arrangements with them to borrow it. This is usually much quicker than using the library recall form.
If the library doesn't own the book at all, try the
interlibrary loan form, the
book purchase request form, or one of the other resources listed below.
Other libraries and online resources
Linguistics Department Library - Our library (room 612) has several hundred book titles, plus some of the more obscure working papers that you won't find in Van Pelt, all listed in the online catalog. There's also a collection of photocopied papers that you can help yourself to.
The Linguistics Lab library - Bill Labov and Gillian Sankoff have an extensive, noncirculating collection of books, journals, dissertations and photocopied papers available in the Linguistics Lab (3550 Market).
