Penn Parsed Corpora of Historical English

The Penn-Helsinki Parsed Corpora of Historical English are three corpora of syntactically annotated prose text samples useful for research in historical syntax. They were created with funding from the NSF and the NEH and are available on CD-ROM. See the corpus web site for details, including university library subscription options. Members of the Penn community can use the corpora over a web server accessible through the library's online search engine Franklin. Other researchers can obtain access through their own university library's subscription to the PPCHE.

Papers available on line

This web site contains a number of papers written by Tony Kroch and his collaborators at Penn in past years. The papers are available as pdf files and, for backward compatibility, as postscript (.ps) files, which are printable on any postscript compatible printer with appropriate legacy software.

The papers have varying status. Some are finished products but others are drafts, which the authors may be in the process of revising. If a paper is marked, "Do not cite," please respect the authors' request. You may distribute the papers you download to others, however, so long as you include any notice regarding citation that the paper may contain.
